MY FIRST TIJUANA TRIP

Last Saturday we took our kid for his first trip to Tijuana, my mom and suegra had to visit the Destist so went ahead and planned a mini trip to TJ with them. Before leaving we had the usual burrito de huevo and a coffee and headed out to pick up my mom’s and suegra. My kid was stocked and wanted to get there already.

The first thing my kid asked for was Papitas so I got him some Adobada Sabritas, hehe. Some of the stuff on the buildings are pretty interesting. The building decorations are art on it’s own.

This was on somebodies wall, don’t know what it means, it’s probably just for decoration, but it’s a full on painting on tile ebbed ed into the wall.

Hand drawn signs have always been my favorite, here’s a Taxi sign in the street. I wish I could make this into a font.

Churros with Cinnamon are the best. Have you seen how these things are made? Awesome.

Julian was tired of eating Papitas, Tacos, Nieve and candy he finally was about to give in and call it a day. Before he fell asleep he told me that “Me gusta Mexico” then I had to carry him for an hour before we crossed the border. I took some time to post some DIMEX stickers before leaving town. Going back pretty soon. Maybe Ensenada this time. Nos vemos.

What up guys? I haven’t posted any real content regarding DIMEX in a while, and I apologize since this is a clothing, lifestyle, blog/store.
More at the Jump.
I been preparing for all the crazy things to come, a new line, I know I promised something a while back and didn’t come thru, but it’s crazy trying to get accounts, keeping the site fresh with posts and content, marketing in the street and online, working a full time job, working out, playing soccer and most of all kicking it with the little man. By the way he’s going to be 2 next week and all of you who know me are invited, we will be having some mole and “unas cheves”. Back to what I was saying, I love this brand and would do almost anything to see it succeed, so I’m not complaining, Im just saying. My personal portfolio online it’s going to be off the hook, for all you people who need graphics (Aqui estamos para servirles) and some other side projects I have lined up.This past weekend was the 199th year celebration of the Mexican Independence Day (not Cinco De Mayo) and being that we live in SoCal, there was celebrations almost in every mayor town and like twenty of them in LA alone.On Sunday after playing soccer we went to the Que Buena Radio Station’s Celebration it was free and it was close to home, so didn’t have to drive very far. We got there a little late but got to see the very end of Banda Machos and Roberto Tapia’s whole set.
It was pretty cool because the place was packed, so I handed my uncle, mom, dad, and sister some flyers and stickers and started giving them away to the crowd, right away they were taking everything and asking questions, checkmate. jeje. It was cool. After that we rolled to the parking lot since the show was over, I was tired of seeing all the ED Hardy Tees and was really hungry, so we rolled to a taquero by my house who has his taqueria in the middle of a abandoned piece of land and chowed down. Overall the day was fun, good music, company and food. Enjoy. Saludos.

The Best Tacos de Tijuana B.C.

On my last quick visit to “Tijuas”, I went as usual to the best taqueria Tijuana has to offer. Tacos Los Albañiles, I don’t know exactly where the place is since I’m not to street savvy in those areas but all I know that it’s the bomb. All kinds of meats, tortillas, and the drinks don’t even get me started on the drinks. Mouth watering Coka-Cola en su botella, mmm. Tripitas, asada, carnitas, cueritos, cabeza, ojo, buche, birria, barbacoa, al pastor, de pollo, de pescado, de frijoles even de vegetables if you are a vegetarian. Topped with frijoles de al olla, y su guacamolito, honestly the sickest. If you go down there ask a cab driver or better yet so you don’t get kidnapped (jk) ask a local, jeje. Mis saludos al Guero the taquero in charge, originally from El Salvador, who would of thought. See you then, and be safe. Remember “Come Frutas Y Verduras”

Nahui Ohlin Store-Los Angeles

So on my way to Norwalk to take care of some business (I’ll post about that later) I got super lost and Jessenia was making fun of me as usual. Even-though my phone has a map that tells you where to go, I still got lost. Stupid Map source sent me somewhere else. I need to start getting used to the city life since I plan on moving down there, so I need to learn how to get around LA without wasting my time by getting lost. So after I took care of business, I decided to drop by The Nahui Ohlin Store AKA Insurgentes in Los Angeles.

When we got there I parked in some Asian Market and wasn’t to sure if to leave my care there so I moved it and parked somewhere else. As we walked Inside we saw everything from clothing, to jewelry, cd’s, bags and lot’s of accessories. I loved the layout of the shop, it had a very relaxing ambient along with some good old incense sticks burning in the background.

I was looking Mr. Botan the original creator of the Chavo del Ocho Skull that you see everywhere. But he wasn’t in and had just missed him, luckily his wife was there so we decided to stay a bit and catch up on the latest in the industry.

We started talking about how much bootleg tees have affected the industry and how so many companies start up and die off in one or two years.

Time flies by when you are having fun and when the conversations are interesting, but we had to take off so we said our goodbyes and promised to come back soon.

After that we had some dinner at a local Taqueria in the same street owned by a Salvadorian family, let me tell you “their Carne Asada was extremely good”.
