What do you get when you mix a corrido with a high paced rock n roll beat, you get this version of Contrabando Y traicion. An original of Los Tigres del Norte modified a bit to play in the classic La Lupita style, it’s a song about Emilio Varela and Camelia La Texana smuggling some dope into the states but when Camelia gets mad at Emilio she kills him and takes off with the money they made. Check out this classic joint, I love how they reenact the whole corrido with simple cardboard images, like an elementary school play. Enjoy

The story this video tells connects a lot with what the song is about and it’s filmed in one of Mexico’s most beautiful places. I really respect artist who invest top dollar when making their music videos, I kind of look forward to see how the song can become to life with film every time a new hit pops up, but am disappointed most of the time. Check out El Verdadero Amor Perdona by Mana Ft. Prince Royce. Sales.
One of the very classic songs by the Mexican Band Mana. En El Muelle De San Blas, the song about a woman that goes crazy when waiting for her husband that left on a fishing boat and never came back. Pretty sad but cool song. There are many people like this roaming the streets in Mexico and I would love to know more about it. Chekalo.
I met Pergamo a Rock en Español band a while ago at La Cueva Night club, they were playing their set at the Desmadreton event held at that club monthly. I have met many local bands that do covers of Rock en Español but none has truly caught my attention like them. They have a unique style and actually sound good when they play. I hope that they keep the genre alive and come out with music that will be iconic like the classic Rock we are used to listening to over and over again. We need something new, something that defines that genre in a 2012 way, Keep hustlin’ and moving towards stardom and one day we will see this band go far. Like I said “El Rock Vive” and Pergamo is proof of it. To check out more about them and to listen to some of their music visit their Facebook Fan Page.
I remember my first time I went to La Cueva. They were in a huge night club called El Patio in Rialto, it was 2001 I was around 17 still in high school and was going through a phase where all I would listen to was corridos. One day my friends invited me so I tagged along and went for the ride. My first Rock en Español club, I was surprised to see how people danced and dressed at this new club and to top it off the type of music that was played. I had grown up listening to this type of rolas because of my dad. He would bump it through his little boom box while working out. El Tri, Caifanes and Mana just to name a few. I felt good, connected, I felt welcomed, Cueva spoke Culture to me. This Friday they will be celebrating their 14th birthday, it has been 10 years since the first day I set foot there and to this day I feel the same thing when I walk into this Club. Join us this Friday to celebrate a decade of Rock en Español and to be part of el Desmadre. The line-up at the Jump. Nos vemos.

Wassup Guys, finally back from the lag hole. This past friday we had our Dimex Night at La Cueva Night Club in Moreno Valley, “That shit was popping” I wanted to introduce the new line so we had a release party there. I have been a “CUEVERO’ since ’01 that’s seven years ago, the place is super chill and the music is classic. DJ Rolando who’s been in the game for a really long time knows his crowd and knows what the people want. So what does he do every Friday night? He gives it to them, honestly you can’t stop dancing, from Rock en Español, 80′s Flashbacks, Cumbia, Merengue, Some Reggaeton, Electronic, Industrial, and sometimes even Hip-Hop. After a long night of dancing the drinks taste like water and Tacos after the night is over feel like when your mom used to tuck you in after eating some pan dulce con leche. Anyways the place is dope and look forward on doing more events like this in the future. Shout out to Dimex’s official Photographer Martune who took all the photos, came out cool man.
