I got a classic for you guys today by Los Tigers Del North called Pacas De A Kilo. This would be the very first corrido that I actually learned all the words to, I recorded it from my radio player to a cassette and would play it in my walkman, stop it and rewind it to write down the lyrics. The lead singer explains the meaning behind it in the very end. Enjoy.
LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE’s Album La Granja Recently Debuted At #1 On Billboard’s “Top Latin Albums” Chart, While Its Title Track/First Single Likewise Reached #1 On The Regional Mexican Airplay Chart… But The Norteño Legends Were Just Banned From Performing The “Biting Political Commentary” At One Of Mexico’s Top Award Shows…
Is The Mexican Government Trying To Silence “The Voice Of The People”??
“Song banned, band pulls out…. Organizers of the show insisted [Los Tigres del Norte] refrain from playing its latest single, ‘La Granja’ (‘The Farm’)… In the song and a video accompanying it, fat pigs represent politicians who get rich on the backs of the people, and a vicious dog with fiery red eyes represents drug trafficking. A zorro, or fox (former President Vicente Fox), releases the dog and there is hell to pay, especially for peasant farmers who get caught in the middle“– Los Angeles Times
