NEED TO KNOW: SALINAS CALIFORNIA
Remember John Steinbeck? Remember the Grapes of Wrath? Well how in the hell is the same shit that was going on in the “Great Depression” years still going on today in cities like Salinas California? I remember living there for 2 years and being some of the worst years in the USA. I got picked on by the second Mexican generation (Cholos) a lot because of the way I looked and spoke, we were really poor and lived in a very small apt. where we slept in the living room and had a small closet where we kept all of our shit. Literally the worst years. My dad would visit me every now and then but would take off because it was that bad. Why didn’t we leave? Something that had to do with our immigration papers, once that shit was resolved we were gone. The view of the different agricultural fields was pretty amazing but life there is hard, check out this PBS special on Salinas and leave your comment in the bottom. Saludos.
