Collecting covers has always been a hobbie of mine for a while now. Since I started to appreciate all the hard work that is put into the visual side of products I felt bad on throwing away a lot of the packaging. One of my favorite pieces would have to be Cd covers, even though the music industry is slowly moving everything to digital I still like to buy a Cd that has a nicely put together package. Rock en Español’s earliest released cd’s have some of the coolest simplest covers out there. Simply Classics, a must have in the inspirational bolt of printed media. Here are some of my favorite. Enjoy.
Rango, this movie looks awesome. Really, by now I would think you guys know that anything that has to do with the “Mexicano” lifestyle is the best. . This is the first trailer released for this upcoming 3D movie featuring Johnny Depp as the lizard. The Mariachi made up of a bunch of owls is the best. Enjoy.
I hope that I’m not the only one that thinks that Mexican product packaging is the best. No one really pays attention to what sells the product. I have always wanted to do something with this concept maybe some paintings, or simple poster prints. Here are some reference shots I took today when I went to the local “Cardenas”. Sorry about the blurriness on some of them but there was an employee kinda looking at me in a weird way, made me feel a little uncomfortable so I had to snap the pictures super fast with the iPhone. Salsa “El Pato” package is the best. “Diremos Qua Quack” Enjoy.
A true soccer player plays because of the love for the game the pay has to always be a plus. Unfortunately now a days a lot of people worry more about the pay and forget to perform. Antonio Carbajal “El Cinco Copas” talks the truth about the players of today. Check it out, he said it himself. “Los peores jugadores, ganan mas”, this is how it is in almost everything, from the entertainment world to the art world today. I love old people .
On Saturday night after we closed down the DIMEX Store I headed over to Victorville, CA to visit my good friend John Salazar. I have know John since we were in Jr. High and still manage to talk to him all the time. Hehe, I guess I can call him my best friend. He has always been into graffiti, painting, drawing and building things, so I went over to check out his little studio in his home. Inspirational resources, good music, cool figurines, and a chill environment is what his studio had, all and a little couch where you can chill when done painting for the night. He has started a project called “The Bomb Factory” a clothing line/lifestyle that is based on comic books, pop culture, rock music, graffiti and some Latino influence. I been seeing some of his early ideas and to be honest they look dope, so get ready for the Bomb, it’s coming to a store near you. Here are some images of the studio. Suave.
