When I first listened to RATM I didn’t know American Bands sang these type of songs, I was in total awe. Corazon Del Pueblo threw this dope concert in “La Casa De Mexicano” this past Saturday, we were invited to sell and represent our brand so we headed out to Boyle Heights but before getting there we picked up our Intern Lucio. We were running a little late but we made it on time to pick a good spot and set up. We haven’t been to a show in a while, since this is the way we started we don’t want to stop doing so just because we have a store now, there’s still lots of people who don’t know about the brand and are super surprised when they see the DIMEX style. We had all of our product on dispaly, our clearance bucket, some accessories, and lot’s of give aways. “La Casa De Mexicano” looked amazing, a beautiful mural by Hugo Martinez displaying the history of many Mexicans here in the USA. Since being a muralist was one of my first passions staring at the mural for the whole day was a huge perk, I truly enjoyed it. The concert was cool and packed with a variety of artists, poets, bands, rappers and entertainers. Cihualt-Ce, Olmeca and Guerrilla Queenz were my particular favorites and did a great job involving the crowd with their performance. Overall the show was cool and was very fortunate to be invited to it, thanks to all the people’s who put it together, great job. Enjoy

I hope that I’m not the only one that thinks that Mexican product packaging is the best. No one really pays attention to what sells the product. I have always wanted to do something with this concept maybe some paintings, or simple poster prints. Here are some reference shots I took today when I went to the local “Cardenas”. Sorry about the blurriness on some of them but there was an employee kinda looking at me in a weird way, made me feel a little uncomfortable so I had to snap the pictures super fast with the iPhone. On Saturday night after we closed down the DIMEX Store I headed over to Victorville, CA to visit my good friend John Salazar. I have know John since we were in Jr. High and still manage to talk to him all the time. Hehe, I guess I can call him my best friend. He has always been into graffiti, painting, drawing and building things, so I went over to check out his little studio in his home. Inspirational resources, good music, cool figurines, and a chill environment is what his studio had, all and a little couch where you can chill when done painting for the night. He has started a project called “The Bomb Factory” a clothing line/lifestyle that is based on comic books, pop culture, rock music, graffiti and some Latino influence. I been seeing some of his early ideas and to be honest they look dope, so get ready for the Bomb, it’s coming to a store near you. Here are some images of the studio. Suave.

It’s been around three months of pain, stress, love, dedication, art, tears, learning and crazy experiences since we opened our first retail store. We went from getting a place that looked like a dump but with lots of expectations to a place with great ideas and a future of it’s own. It’s been a crazy experience since day one and can’t wait for what the store and my brand holds for the future. I’m doing a lot of art work on the side, coming up with ideas to make the brand a more interactive one and not just another brand that takes your money and runs away, we just did a deal with an online company that eats, breathes and sleeps Latino based Clothing brands and can’t wait on how this company will make our brand grow, I’m coming up with simpler designs with the full DIMEX flavor you all love and most importantly having a blast at doing what I love. RUBBING SHOULDERS WITH AZTECAS

MEXICO CITY — Archaeologists found some of the richest and most unusual Aztec offerings ever in excavations under a mammoth slab depicting an earth goddess and said Wednesday they hope to uncover an emperor’s tomb nearby.

The seven offerings of strange and unparalleled oddities found under the stone slab depicting the goddess Tlaltecuhtli include the skeleton of a dog or wolf dressed in turquoise ear plugs, jadeite necklaces and golden bells on its feet.

The 4-meter (13-foot) long carving of Tlaltecuhtli (tlahl-tay-KOO-tlee) was found in 2006 near the edge of the Templo Mayor pyramid in downtown Mexico City. It was lifted out in 2007 and archaeologists began digging underneath.

On Wednesday, the huge stone monument was put on display for reporters before its first public exhibition. The sculpture itself challenges the public perception of Aztec monuments as bare stone-colored carvings, because it preserves a half-dozen original colors in which it was originally painted, including rich ochre, red, yellow and blue hues.

Archaeologist Leonardo Lopez Lujan said the presence of shells from distant seas, gold earrings and collars as well as strange wooden daggers found under the slab suggest that a very important person is buried nearby.

“These are offerings that we have never seen before, and obviously they give us very good indications that at some point we can find a royal tomb,” Lopez Lujan said.

The offerings — dedicated to gods, not rulers — are from such far-flung corners of the continent that “they are telling us we are dealing with a big, big empire,” he said.

Historical records from the time of Spain’s 1521 conquest and markings on the Tlaltecuhtli slab suggest the Aztec emperor Ahuizotl, who died in 1502, was cremated and his ashes buried somewhere at the foot of the Templo Mayor pyramid.

Researchers originally thought the tomb might lie directly below the slab. But with only about 2 meters (6 1/2 feet) left to dig downward in 12.5-meter (41-foot) deep pits excavated since 2007, Lujan said researchers plan to dig a lateral tunnel 5 meters (16.4 feet) to the west, to see if they can find the cremated remains of Ahuizotl or his predecessors.

They would like to go farther with lateral excavations, but the water-soaked, unstable soil — and the possibility of damaging valuable, colonial-era buildings that still stand around the site — make that impossible. Radar and other images suggest soil disturbances near the current pit, but Lopez Lujan said those could be naturally caused.

Archaeologists have been looking for the tombs of the Aztec emperors for decades. Unlike the sepulcher of Mayan leaders, no Aztec royal burial site has ever been found.

Depicted as a woman with huge claws and a stream of blood flowing into her mouth as she squats to give birth, Tlaltecuhtli was believed to devour the dead and then give them new life. The god was so fearsome that Aztecs normally buried her depictions face down in the earth. However, this one was face-up.

In the claw of her right foot, the god holds a rabbit and 10 dots, indicating the date “10 Rabbit” — 1502, the year of Ahuizotl’s death.

“What better monument for a funerary area … than a goddess who devours the dead,” Lopez Lujan said.

While the exhibition is dedicated to Moctezuma II — the last Aztec emperor, who took over from Ahuizotl and was defeated by the Spanish — the excavation is unlikely to shed any light on where his ashes lie.

Lopez Lujan said some versions say that while Moctezuma was cremated, his ashes may have been mixed with water and drunk by his subjects.

Today as I was getting ready to open the DIMEX Store, I got an email from our neighbor Copy Kwick saying that our store front window was smashed into pieces. So I finished up what I was doing and took off. When I got to the spot I saw that it was all boarded up from outside, our other neighbor from the Iggie’s Antique shop covered the big hole left in front of our store with some left over boards he had. Then I called Pomona PD to see what they had for me, and guess what like anything else that has to do with vandalism or robbery all they had was a stupid report number. Man I don’t need a number I need my window fixed and justice for the crime.I wonder what was the reason for this? Are people really that fucked up, we are here opening up our very first store sacrificing everything we own and spending numerous hours of the day to bring this project to life so one immature, lonely, not enough love from mommy or daddy, “Cholito” can come to my store front and bust the glass like that. Really man, what’s the deal, do you need attention, you know there’s programs for that, they’ll take good care of you. If you are going to be vandalizing stores first off go vandalize the place you love then if you don’t feel like shit then put that energy into something valuable like growing up and getting a life. If you who ever you are, are a Hispanic/Latino dude then I don’t feel mad I just feel sorry for you. We came to this country to better ourselves not to throw away this great opportunity by vandalizing stores and fucking with other people, one day you’ll meet a “Cabron” that will put you into place, knock your thoughts into sense. These past weeks have been insanely crazy, the store opened, new projects came, new product, playing with the store so it can sell, the website, online sales, wholesale sales, the urge to create art but have to do other things, working from the new store, eating and the suckiest part would be that the rent is due pretty soon, craziness I’m telling you. But honestly, now I’m doing what I love, and that’s all that matters. Check out this mask I made back in 2008 for a Halloween contest. Now it’s going to be in display with some of our latest product in our store front. Maybe I’ll trip some peeps out, I’ll be posting some images when the store front is done. I cannot express how happy I am right now, one of my biggest dreams has come true, our DIMEX STORE is finally open. I really want to than all the great friends who helped out on this difficult task starting off with all the people who put their hard work into the development of the store. Yessica Martinez for being a great business partner, Maria Martinez for letting us use her credit for a small loan thank you señora, Ricardo Vidaurrazaga my dad for helping me with the initial setup of the stores backbone, Ana Elsa Angulo mi jefita for helping on taking the ugly ass sticker that was in our storefront window, Ashley My sis for passing out flyers and tagging shirts for me, My best friend Rolando Gutierrez for helping me promote online, Rene Chavez and brothers for helping set the sickest looking floor in all Pomona, the unknown contractors that ripped me off but did a great job on painting the store front, Jonathan Salazar for helping on our back wall and taking the purple carpet off, Don Hector who helped me remove the old lights and replace them with some more modern ones, Jose for making and installing not only the sickest channel sign in the Inland Empire but for providing for the sickest looking wraps the store has. Julian my son for handing me the hammer and last but not least thank “Las Ganas, de sobresalir en Los Estados Unidos.
